Cute Tee - Watermark

Hello Readers!

Today's project is transforming a plain white-tee, using a "watermark" method!  This a easy way to create a one of a kind shirt and very inexpensive too.  This does take longer then I thought it would, its kind of a two-day project rather then a one day project like I originally thought.

Ok so lets get prepared!  This is a list of supplies you will need:
  • Plain white-tee (it is best if it's 100% cotton) any style will do, whatever is your favorite!
  • Dye (any color, or it can be multiple), I used Rit Dye cause it was cheap, but any fabric dye will do fine.
  • Glue, Elmers Gel Glue (the blue one), it has to be the blue one or it won't work right
  • Something water resistant to put in between the shirt, you will be writing on top of this so the flatter the better, I used a lid of a bin.
Ok now we are ready to start!  First wet your tee with cool water and squeeze, your shirt only needs to be damp not soaking. Now you will need the glue and an idea of what you want to put on the shirt.

I decided to use a favorite quote of mine...
" I am someone who is looking for love, real love, ridiculous, inconvenient, consuming can't live without eachother love." -Sex and the City
You can use a quote, book passage, or draw something if you are a good artist.  Whatever tickles your pickle!

After you have picked your idea, you can now start to transfer it to the shirt!  Use the glue like its a pencil and just start writing/drawing.  You want to make sure you use enough glue that it looks like bubble letters, you don't want it to look flat.  Be generous with it! After you are done you must let it dry completely.  This is the part that takes the longest.  It must be dry to the touch.

Wet Glue

Dry Glue (you can usually be sure, because the shirt is dry as well)
After it is completely dry it is time to dye it.  Using your fabric dye you will want to follow the directions on creating the dye bath, except you will want the bath to be in cool water.  You should use a container that will be big enough for your shirt to get dyed evenly.  After your tee is the color you want run it under cool water again and prepare a soapy bath to soak in for about 10-15 min.  The soapy bath will wash away any glue that is left on the shirt.  You can use any kind of hand soap.

After it soaks, wash and dry separate from other clothes.
Now you have yourself and new tee!!

Hope you liked this project, tune in later for more!  Keep on following!

Thanks! Jess out.

Sweater Makeover!!!

Hello Readers!

I'm so excited, project number one is complete!  Due to the dropping in temperatures, I decided to give one my sweaters a makeover...which one shall I choose... I found this random sweater in the bottom of my winter clothes tub, and it was a 3X...don't know how or why its in there but it is perfect for my sweater makeover!!!  Below is the picture of how the sweater looks pre-makeover if you will...
With a seam ripper I, took off the bottom bungy fabric, as well as the ones attached at the ends of the sleeves.  I also took off the pockets using the seam ripper as well.  To save time I cut with scissors, the zipper.  I left the hood as is, but I took out the string, you can leave the string if you want, I personally feel I never use the string and only worry about it being uneven all the time.  Next I tried it on, to see how small I need to make it.  I cut the sleeves and sides accordingly.  After all the cuts I sewed everything together.
Then I decided to add some buttons instead of putting another zipper on.  I measured where each button and where the slots would go as well.  I put 3 buttons but you are welcome to put more, or even add the zipper!

Yay!!! And now I have a new cute sweater!!!  Thanks for reading...tune in tomorrow for a new project!

Thanks, Jess out!

Project Numero Uno!

Hola Readers!

Tomorrow marks the day of my first project to show you!  Since it is finally getting cold outside, I have been needing a cute sweater to wear out.  However I don't seem to have any, I don't know where they have all gone.  I found a box of sweaters in the garage and they are all too big, or just eh...I found one that is definitely not mine, and since no one has called to ask for it I'm going to assume they forgot/don't care about it anymore.  So now it has become the center of my first project.  It is an XL, so I'm going to alter it and change it up a bit.  Tune it tomorrow to see how it comes out!

Jess out.

My first Blog!

Hola Readers!

Welcome to my first blog ever! I'm so excited to finally be putting my idea out there.  I have been talking for weeks about starting a blog.  This particular blog is about sewing and occasional arts and craft projects.  Currently I am unemployed so time is in abundance and it can get boring real fast, so I occupy myself with some projects.  My friends and web browsing give me most of my ideas, but I would like to extend the search to You out there.  Help me by posting ideas, request, comments, anything to spark a new project.

Thanks in advance! Jess out.
